YESTERDAY A KILLER, TODAY FREE
2 OTHERS INDICTED FOR '93 MURDER   

   In an unusually swift turn of events, Lionel Lane entered the Kane County
Courthouse Friday in shackles as a convicted murderer and walked out a free
man hours later.

   Lane, 34, found guilty this year of the 1993 murder of 76-year-old
Virginia Johannessen of Aurora Township and sentenced to 60 years in prison,
was wished "good luck" by Judge James Doyle as all the charges against him
were dropped.
