FALSELY IMPRISONED MAN SUES LAWYER  

   John Almodovar blames an ineffective lawyer for a murder conviction that
landed him in prison for five years. On Thursday, a month after winning his
freedom, Almodovar sued the attorney, George Zuganelis.

   He claims the attorney's work was compromised because Zuganelis was facing
federal tax evasion charges at the time. The suit, filed in Cook County
Circuit Court, seeks unspecified monetary damages. It also contends Zuganelis
failed in his representation of his client by making no effort to block
prosecutors from using statements in the trial that Almodovar made to police
that, according to the suit, were obtained illegally.
